Numerical Study on Blasting Wave Propagation in Crushed Rocks
Too much energy is acted on the rock crushing during blasting and only part of it is transformed into shock wave propagating in the crushed rocks, which make the crushed rocks loose again. In order to study blasting wave propagation in crushed rocks, using theories of explosion mechanics and explosion gas dynamics, the mathematical model of blasting wave propagation was setup on the basis of flow mechanics and compressible turbulent flow. The simulation and analysis results show that there exists acceleration mechanism by the crushed rocks during the blasting wave propagation. The co-operation between the blasting wave and explosion products expansion makes the rocks crushed into pieces. Due to the existence of rocks as the barriers, the turbulent flow is produced and affected greatly by the wall. It is concluded that, passing through the rocks small opening, the pressure on the blasting wave front is attenuated greatly. However, the velocity is increased with a large extent and the temperature is not obviously changed.
