Numerical Investigation of Different Initiation Mode for Prefabricate Fragment Warhead

By the finite element the program LS-DYNA, the effects on a prefabricate fragment warhead under different initiation mode were investigated. The tungsten beads scattering characteristics and detonation waves propagation rule of a prefabricate fragment warhead which is initiated by different initiation methods were simulated. The simulated results are approximately coincidence with results of experiment and analytic solution of relevant documents. The process of detonation and beads acceleration of the warhead are verified to be true; meanwhile, the simulation results indicate that the change of initiating model only effects the scattering directions of the tungsten beads, however, the effect on the general velocity of the beads is unapparent. The research achievement also can provide some references for the further experiment research and design of this kind of warheads.
