Photodegradation of Aqueous Nitramine Explosives Using Doped and Undoped ZnS and CdS Nanoparticles as Photocatalyst

The photodegradation of nitramine high explosives was studied in the presence of semicounductors of ZnS and CdS as undoped and doped with Ni and Co as photocatalyst. The nanoparticles of photocatalyst were prepared using precipitation and coprecipitation chemical methods under inert gas atmosphere and ambient temperature. The effect of nature, dopants and dosage of photocatalyst as well as pH of the mixture was investigated for obtaining the maximum degradation of high explosives. The destruction 90- 95% of nitramine explosives was obtained in the presence of 0.3%Ni and 0.5%Co in semicounductors of ZnS and CdS and in pH of 11.
