Multi-band Obscuring Smoke Composition in the Visible, Infrared and Millimeter Wavelength Range

A new burnable-type smoke screen for obscuring multi- band light is developed. This smoke composition is based on expansible graphite and carbon-rich compound and can be used to jam double-mode guidance arms, which work in the infrared and millimeter wave range. The smoke composition is presented in this paper, and the performance of smoke is tested in smoke-box. Results illustrate that the total obscuring performance (TOP) of the smoke is 363m2kg, the penetrated ratio is less than 15% in the infrared range for 1-3μm, 3-5μm, 8-14μm, and the damping ratio is more than 10 dB in millimeter wavelength range for 3mm and 8mm. The smoke composition impenetrable in the visible, infrared and electromagnetic spectrum has been achieved.
