Distributed Fibre Optic Temperature Measurements - a Competitive Alternative for Temperature Monitoring in Large RCC Dams
The paper focuses on the advantages of distributed fiber optical temperature measurements in large RCC dams compared to conventional temperature monitoring systems using thermocouples. Based on experiences gained from projects in Jordan and China a competitive monitoring system is presented and its benefits in terms of reliability, durability and information density as well as its capability to improve the decision making process are outlined.
