DYNAMIC CONDITION ASSESSMENT OF HIGHWAY BRIDGES INCLUDING OPERATIONAL CONDITIONS

In this paper, the requirements for a structural health monitoring system for medium span bridge structures are discussed followed bb a brief review on three damage identification algorithms developed for this type of bridges. The first method is to identify local damages using only accelerometers placed on the bridge deck. The vehicle-bridge interaction forces and the structural damage in the bridge deck are identified from the measured responses in sequence of iteration without prior knowledge of the moving loads. The second method is to identify the damage using the operational deflection history at a single measuring point by continuous wavelet transform. The third one is to use responses from sensors on a vehicle. The identification algorithm is based on dynamic response sensitivity analysis, and it is realized with regularization technique from measured vehicle acceleration measurement. Finally, features of these algorithms and further development are discussed.
