DAMAGE DETECTION THROUGH SPACE SERIES OF DYNAMIC RESPONSE
A damage in a beam can be detected by processing the test data of dynamic deflections and strains of the beam. The key to the damage detection is that the test data must cover the beam. The coverall space series can be obtained by the measuring gages covering the beam, but it is difficult to cover the beam by measuring transducers fixed on the beam. The coverall space series can be obtained in the fixed gage stations by moving the test forces on the beam. The abnormal changes in the damage region can be identified from the vibration responses caused by the force moving on the beam after the responses data are processed by singular value decomposition method.
