APPLICATION OF GENERALIZED WEIGHTED DISTANCE TO CONDITION ASSESSMENT OF LARGE BRIDGES
A condition assessment method based on the generalized weighted distance between the values of evaluated system indices and their standard values is presented in this paper since the condition assessment for large bridges has the general characteristics of multiple factors and multiple levels. To solve the problem that there are too many subjective factors in condition assessment, this paper uses the optimal values as the evaluation criterions to avoid the probable artificial factors in classification and improve the objectivity of condition assessment effectively. The advantage of this method is that the similar members or structures can be assessed at the same time. So the states of the evaluated system and its subsystems can be obtained at the same time. In addition, this method can overcome the complexity of assessment one by one in traditional condition assessment. The exemplification of the evaluation model in the service condition assessment for Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge (NYRB) proves that the method has better practicability.
