FE MODEL UPDATING FOR DAMAGE IDENTIFICATION IN HYDRAULIC RADIAL GATE MODEL
In this paper, a laboratory model of a hydraulic radial gate (a typical hydraulic steel structure) is firstly modeled to obtain a raw finite element (FE) model, which is then updated by a sensitivity-based model updating method for the further damage identification study. An objective function is set as a nonlinear least-squares problem in this method, which minimizes the sum of squares of differences between the experimental and analytical modal results. In addition, due to the extremely large elements existing in the sensitivity matrix, the Levenberg-Marquardt (LM) method is used to solve the optimization problem in order to avoid the ill- conditioning problem on the Jaocbian matrix. The results show that a satisfactory correlation is achieved between the updated FE model and the real gate model.
