REAL-TIME MONITORING OF TRACK-BRIDGEINTERACTION BEHABIOURS
Fiber Bragger Grating (FBG) sensors and some conventional electrical sensors were adopted to install a real-time track-bridge structural condition monitoring system. With the deformation calculating software developed from this research, the deformation shape of the rail tracks can be calculated from the strains measured by the distributed FBG sensors. Besides, the axial force distribution of a rail within a 227 meters region, expansion displacements of rail extension joint and concrete bridge joint under the action of field temperatures were measured. Monitoring results demonstrate that FBG sensors are durable and can provide sensitive, clear, and stable signals for long term monitoring of track safety. It is believed that the technology developed from this research including the software and hardware has great potential for further development and application on the structural and conditional monitoring of railway system.
