CONSTRUCTION MONITORING FOR PRESTRESSED CONCRETE SPACE STRUCTURE

This paper reports on the construction monitoring of a two-way prestressed space structure named Qi Zhong Tennis Center, using fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensors and vibrating wire sensors. The construction phases mainly include casting concrete, prestressing, and installing the steel roof. The strains of concrete, steel bars and tendons on critical sections and the structure deformation are monitored throughout the construction. The monitoring results show that the structure mainly remains in elastic range during the globe construction. Some concrete sections are in tension before prestressing, whereas in compression after prestressing. The radial tendons should be stretched prior to the ring tendons. In addition, the monitoring results are stable and precise, which indicates that fiber Bragg grating strain sensors and vibrating wire sensors could be used in construction monitoring of prestressed concrete space structure.
