THE INTERNAL STRAIN EVOLUTIONS OF A BRIDGE MONITORED FROM CONSTRUCTION TO SERVICE

In this paper, the internal strains of a bridge in some specific cross sections were monitored and their evolutions were studied from the construction to coming into service for nearly 3 years. In order to carry out such monitoring of the evolution, a bridge health monitoring system was designed and implemented. The monitoring system consists of three sub systems: (1) an automatic strain and temperature sensing system; (2) a remote wireless communication system based on GPRS network; (3) a database management system based on B/S. By the way of the monitoring system, the strain evolution of the bridge in some specific cross sections were measured from construction to service continuously, which can monitor not only effect of the permanent load, but also the effect of the environmental action, it is a great help to learn about the bridge health status roundly.
