LOADING IDENTIFICATION FOLLOWING FUZZY PATTERN RECOGNITION EMPLOYING FIBRE GRATING SENSORS

Fuzzy pattern recognition and genetic algorithm (GA) are combined to realize the accurately loading identification for steel structures. After the direction connections of the strain patterns and loading conditions are constructed, loads can be discerned through the recognition of strain patterns quickly. The absolute errors of the values and positions between input loads and recognition results are constructed as an objective function. The optimal distribution of key nodes on which strain gauges to be installed is determined through minimizing the objective function, which is carried out by a hybrid. Then a new method to obtain the strains of the key nodes using the fibre Bragg grating sensors is developed. Two sensors are attached to the surface of the structure together in cross directions to collect the surface strains in both directions. A steel bracket is taken as example to construct finite element model and further realize the loading identification.
