ELASTO-PLASTIC BUCKLING ANALYSIS ON STEEL PLATE DEEP BEAM-A RETROFIT STEEL FRAME REINFORCED SYSTEM

Steel plate deep beams (SPDBX as a retrofit steel frame reinforced system, is introduced. Steel plate with span-depth ratio l/h≤2 is placed in the steel moment frame and connected with frame beams by high strength frictional bolts. Rid stiffeners are welded on the two sides of the steel plate, which is also referred to vertical steel I-beam. The finite element programming ANSYS is adopted to analyse the elastic- plastic buckling behavior of the SPDB with stiffened panel at both edges. The research work is focused on the influences of span-depth ratio α and height-thickness ratio X . It is showed that the ultimate load-carrying capacity of SPDB is proportional to α. The thick panel is different from the thin panel, the nonlinear behavior of the thick panel is resulted from the nonlinearity of material, but the nonlinear behavior of the thin panel is from both the nonlinearity of material and serious geometry deformation of the panel. In the design of SPDB, the interior stiffeners are necessary for the thin panel but not necessary for the thick panel.
