STUDY ON BRIDGE TRANSVERSE RIGIDITY LIMIT VALUE
Experimental investigations are made on the bridges on which derailments have happened. A conclusion is drawn that scarcity of bridge transverse rigidity is a dominant cause of derailment on bridges. Many examples of derailment manifest that derailment cannot be prevented with the limit value of steel bridge transverse rigidity in existence. The cause is that derailment is cannot be analyzed with existing method for bridge transverse rigidity analysis. Based on energy random analysis theory for derailment, a method to establish limit value of bridge transverse rigidity for derailment prevention is presented. The detailed steps include presentation of condition with safety coefficient for derailment prevention、 determination of limit value of bridge lateral rigidity under design speed and check calculations of smoothness and comfort of running train. With the method, the transverse rigidity limit values (centre distance between main beams) for 32m and 40m deck steel plate girder on speed-raised line are established as 2.36m and 2.55m respectively.
