An One-dimensional-two-dimensional Integrated Hydraulic Model for the Yellow River Delta

Within the environmental flow study for the Yellow River Delta (YRD) a 1D-2D integrated hydraulic model for the YRD, based on the SOBEK-Rural modelling system, has been set up. The model simulates the flow in the river and channel networks (1D) as well as the overland flow in the wetlands (2D). It is interactively linked with a groundwater flow model based on MODFLOW. The two models together supply the physical condition data to a landscape ecological model based on LEDESS. This system of the three models together makes it possible to evaluate the effect of water allocation strategies on the ecological system of the YRD wetlands. This paper describes the background principle of the SOBEK-Rural modelling system as well as the set up, calibration and verification of the 1D-2D integrated hydraulic model for the YRD.
