INTERACTION BETWEEN WAVES AND PERFORATED-CAISSON BREAKWATERS
This paper gives a short review of Li’s group research on water wave interaction with perforated-caisson breakwaters. The numerical simulation of normal wave action on perforated rectangular caisson breakwaters with or without a top cover is introduced. Theoretical solutions of normal and diagonal wave action on perforated-caisson breakwaters, as well as wave interaction with perforated dual-cylinder groups, are also given. Relevant physical model tests on wave interaction with perforated rectangular and dual-cylinder caisson breakwaters are presented.A simplified method, based on test data for calculating reflection coefficients and wave forces on perforated-caisson breakwaters, is also introduced for engineering application. Studies show that a phase difference exists between the maximum horizontal and vertical forces on perforated caisson structures. In addition, the reflection coefficients and both horizontal and vertical forces of perforated wall structures for irregular waves are larger than those for regular waves.
