NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF A TYPHOON WAVE AND DEVELOPMENT OF A WAVE VISUALIZATION SYSTEM
This paper takes the QuickSCAT/NCEP Blended Ocean Wind fields as the background wind fields, and makes use of the improved typhoon wind fields model to construct typhoon wind fields, which is taken as the input of the WAVEWATCH III ocean model to make a numerical simulation of the wave fields brought by the NO.0414 typhoon. Then a comparison is made between the simulation data and observed ones. The result shows that it is feasible to take the QuickSCAT/NCEP Blended Ocean Wind fields as the background wind field and use its constructed typhoon wind fields to forecast the ocean waves. On this ground, Interactive Data Language (IDL) is used to build an interactive wave analysis and forecasting visualization system,which has some reference worthiness for the ocean engineering design.
