APPLICATION OF ROUSE CONCENTRATION PROFILE TO WIND-BLOWN SAND
This study investigated applicability of Rouse concentration profile in water to wind-blown sand in air in order to clear differences of the sand transport mechanisms between in water and air and to investigate the vertical profile of wind-blown sand transport rate. Comparison of the Rouse concentration profiles and the experimental results demonstrated that the Rouse concentration profiles underestimated the experimental results when the mode of sand particle motion was classified into saltation; however, the Rouse profiles became close to the experimental results with a decrease in the Rouse number. The profile agreed with the experimental result when the Rouse number was 1.62 for which the mode of particle motion was classified into modified saltation. Modified Rouse profile revealed the same characteristic as that in air with the variation in the Rouse number. The gradient of semi-logarithmic concentration profile decreased with a decrease in the Rouse number from 5 to 2, and then increased with a decrease in the Rouse number from 2 to 1.
