HYDROMECHANICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE FORMATION OF THE RADIAL SANDBANKS IN THE SOUTHERN YELLOW SEA

摘要：

The radial sandbank of the Southern Yellow Sea is located on the east off the coast in Jiangsu Province. The length of the sand ridge is from ten-odd to near hundred kilometers and its width is from several to ten-odd kilometers. In this paper, a new developed 3D numerical tidal model with implicit scheme has been successfully applied in the radial sandbanks area with fine grid size to simulate a long time series. Through studying the plane and vertical hydromechanical characteristics, the mechanisms of the formation, maintenance and asymmetrical distribution of the radial sandbanks are understood.
