OPTIMIZATION STUDY ON THE DOLPHIN’S LAYOURT OF CAOFEIDIAN LNG TERMINAL

Through 3-D irregular wave & current experiments in the wave basin and calculation using OPTIMOOR model, systematical study was carried out on line tension & moored ship movements of LNG carriers under different circumstance loads. Aiming at reducing ship movements and averaging the line tension distribution, this paper presents the principle and methods for mooring dolphins’ layout at open sea. In the design of Tangshan LNG terminal, through the physical experiments and the OPTIMOOR mathematical model calculation, systematical study was carried out on the moored ship movements and lines tension under different circumstance loads along with the different berth length and the dolphins’ layout. Aiming at reducing the ship movements under circumstance load, averaging the line tension and reducing the line break risk, principle and methods for berth length and the dolphins’ layout at open sea are presented. The terminal apron is located the natural depth of the sea. The terminal axis angle is 59°. The current at apron is reciprocative. The flood current direction is 235 o , and the ebb current direction is 64 o .
