Low RAR Operation Technology of Blast Furnace Aiming at Reducing CO<,2> Emission in Ironmaking Process
Global warming is a common subject in steel industry in every country. In the integrated steel works, there are various means to decrease reducing agent at blast furnace, however, preferable way to reduce CO <,2> emissions must be chosen considering energy balance in whole steel works. Regarding the above conditions, reduction of heat loss from the lower part of the blast furnace and metallic charging are of the most effective way in the integrated steel works. This paper describes the recent technologies for the reduction of RAR developed at JFE Steel; i. e. the precise gas flow control technologies to lower the heat loss from the shaft, and the production technologies of raw materials containing metallic iron using sintering machine, rotary hearth furnace and shaft furnace.
