Substance Flow Through Iron and Steel Industry in Japan

Substance flows through iron and steel industry in Japan has been discussed by introducing phosphorus, manganese, molybdenum and aluminum flows as typical examples. Substances are classified into two groups as recyclable and unrecyclable ones, and they are further divided into four types depending on their practical status. Some substances such as zinc, aluminum in dross etc. are effectively reutilized by iron and steelmaking technology while .most of rare metals as alloying element for steel tends to diffuse into the environment. Therefore, it is extremely important to precisely understand such substance flows and develop the system to reutilize them in the view point of resource strategy.
