Key Issues of Multi-scale Modeling and Damage Analyses for Civil Infrastructure
This paper demonstrates firstly a new challenge of maintaining safe and reliable service of civil infrastructure: multi-scale modeling and damage analyses on structural deteriorating. Then the feature in multi-scales involved and the concerned key issues for multi-scale modeling and analyses of civil infrastructure are reviewed comparatively. Consequently the current research progress for multi- scale structural modeling and damage analyses of bridge structures are summarized, and several key issues on the research are proposed, among which are bridging in simulation, updating and verification of the multi-scale structural model, damage evolution in multiple temporal scales, and the implemental strategies of multi-scale modeling and simulation in engineering computation of large civil infrastructure.
