Diagnosis of Initial Crack in Port Crane Metal Structure

In this paper, the system of the fault diagnosis on the port crane metal structure is developed based on the analyzing of crack propagation principle using the Fracture Mechanics. The Finite Element Analysis (FEA) method is used to ascertain the crack sensitive areas on the crane metal structure. The residual life and observing periodicity of the port crane metal structure with initial crack are calculated in the system, and the guidance to maintenance is provided. The application of the system exemplifies its validity in the fault diagnosis, maintenance, and decision made of the safety assessment on the port crane metal structure.
