Structural Seismic Response Monitoring System of Queshi Bridge Array
This research introduces in brief the history of strong-motion observation and its important roles in developing structural shock resistance in China. Then detailed information is introduced about the structural earthquake response monitoring network implemented for the 2406m long, cable-stayed Queshi Bridge, which was designed for a strong earthquake (magnitude 8) during the its design life. The monitoring network comprises a total of 57 channels of accelerometers deployed in 27 key points on the superstructure, at pier foundation and downhole free- field arrays of the bridge. Instanced by this bridge, principles for designing strong inotion monitoring network used in cable-stayed bridges are discussed.
