Observation and Statistic Analysis of Temperature Action on a Concrete Box-girder
Temperature action has been frequently associated with concrete-bridge damage. Although temperature action that arises in bridge is a random process, it is not easily estimated and often considered in a simplified way in the present paper, which may lead to structural behavior and reliability problems. Hypothesis testing and parameter analysis are used for the statistical analysis of temperature field in a concrete box-girder. A method for computing the thermal action representative value is developed according to long term observation data. Representative value of temperature action is calculated by this method. Hypothesis testing and parameter analysis indicate that daily difference in temperature of the concrete box-girder in summer without asphalt concrete cover follows a Weibull distribution with parameter 9.1327 and 2.61837, it in winter follows a Weibull distribution with parameter 4.4392 and 2.0749.
