Optimum Sensor Placement for Submarine Pipeline of Health Monitoring
A method is presented for the selection of a set of sensor locations for submarine pipeline of health monitoring. The prioritization is based on the eigenvector sensitivity and the identification error sensitivity analysis of a finite element mode of the structure. According to the contribution of structural damage information for each degree of freedom of the structure, locations that do not contribute significantly are reduced in an iterative manner with analyzing the impact of error level on the selected sensor locations, until the mean or the standard deviation reaches an acceptable error bound. Numerical example shows that this approach is effective for submarine pipeline in health monitoring.
