Study on Wireless Sensors for the Corrosion Monitoring of Reinforcement in Concrete Structures
The reinforcement corrosion is a serious problem in reinforced concrete structures and has a large impact on durability and safety of the structures. In order to reduce the loss, it is necessary to monitor the corrosion of the reinforcement. Compared with the traditional monitoring techniques, the wireless monitoring techniques have more advantages. The development of the wireless monitoring technology for the corrosion of reinforcement is reviewed in this paper. And the limitations of some wireless sensors as well as the directions of future research of wireless sensors are put forward. This paper summarizes the ongoing work at the Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics on the wireless corrosion monitoring sensor based on the radio frequency technology. The analog circuits and the electronic circuitry of the wireless sensor based on the corrosion of the steel wire are investigated. Two kinds of improved sensors are made and the accelerated electrochemical corrosion experiment is carried out to find whether the improvement is feasible or not.
