Quality Control of the Small Prestressed Concrete Box Girder During Prefabrication

Small prestressed concrete box girders constructed with the Post-Tension metheod have been widely applied on bridge related structures because of their engineering advantages on stiffness, stability and cost effectiveness. This paper summaries the key points of the quality control on the prefabrications and constructions of the small box girders and demonstrates these points with an real example on the highway from Zhengzhou to Shirenshan in Henan province. The conclusions are derived by a comprehensive analysis on the essentials of the quality control for every working step from preparing equipments, controlling materials, placing form work to pouring concrete and recommendations regarding the quality control process during the small box girders construction are provided based on the analysis.
