Study on Cracks in Stone Arch Bridge Based on Numerical Simulation
The crack is one of the breakage features of a stone arch bridge. The finite element software package ANSYS and the method of discrete unit and definition of node constraint are used to construct the three- dimensional model of the 30 m-long span bridge to simulate the process of the occurrence and development of the crack. And according to the result of numerical simulation, the distribution and development of cracks are also debated. It shows that the cracks of the main arc appear mainly in the center, the foot, the connection and the connection between the main arc and the frames on it. The connections of the frames of the bridge are the weak points in which the glide reflection and the dislocation appear easily. The development of the main arc is also put forward. And the splitting is considered as one of the criterion of the physique estimate. The appearance of the phenomenon of splitting shows that the bridge is unstable. The numerical analysis of cracks has a very practical significance in the stone arch bridge design, on-line monitoring and routine maintenance to prolong its service life.
