Comprehensive Method Research on Analyzing System Reliability for Steel Structure

Steel structure has complicated failure patterns and nonlinear implicit performance function under exterior effects. Random variables in performance function have relativity to some degree. Based on the reliability theory, the consideration of characteristics of steel structure and amendment of conventional methods analyzing system reliability, a comprehensive method was presented for analyzing system reliability in this paper. This method combined four conventional methods including finite element method (FEM), response surface method (RSM), first order reliability method (FORM), and Monte Carlo simulation method (MCSM). It can effectively reduce the risks arising from the conventional deterministic finite element analysis and avoid the defects of single method in analyzing steel structure system reliability. The applicability, efficiency and accuracy of the approach were verified by numerical examples.
