Carbonation and Calcium Leaching in Concrete under Marine Environment
In this paper, concrete core specimens were taken from a pier, a wave-prevent dam and the concrete blocks. The contents of calcium carbonate and calcium hydroxide in carbonation zone were determined by using the dry grinding technique and chemical analysis. Results show that the carbonation rate is slow in extremely humid environment. By comparing the content of calcium carbonate and calcium hydroxide, the total leaching of CH and a progressive decalcification of C-S-H were evaluated.
