Synthesis and Characterization of Poly (acrylic acid-co-acrylamide)/Montmorillonite Nanocomposites
Poly (acrylic acid-co-acrylamide) copolymer/montmorillonite (MMT) nanocompo-sites have been synthesized. Nanocomposites were prepared by aqueous solution polymerizaiton and were characterized by Infrared Spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. The Characterization of the nanocomposite also indicted that the monomers of acrylic acid and acrylamide have successfully intercalated into the nano scale confined space between the lamella layers of MMT and then copolymerized to form an intercalated nanocomposite. The presence of a little content of MMT obviously increases the water absorption in copolymer/MMT nanocomposites. It was found that the absorbing ability and the scale inhibition performance of the novel composites have improved to some extent.
