In the economic dimension, globalization means the transformation of local economies into one great global system. This is undoubtedly due to the extremely dynamic process of the development of information technologies in recent years, which have allowed for the electronic flow of financial means and making economic transactions all over the world (financial globalization). The popularization of modem telecommunications technologies on a global scale have contributed to the development of modem bank services, which make it possible for free access to funds that are in a bank account at any given time and almost in any place in the world. Modem telecommunications technologies have enabled banks to extend their traditional bank offer to include the so-called electronic or alternative distribution channels (mainly via the Internet, stationary and mobile phones, POS, and cash machines. They have also made it possible to offer customers completely new non-bank services, which has consequences not only for the econ my but also for the social and natural environments. The aim of the following study is to present the process of globalization of modem bank services, which are based on modem telecommunications technologies. An attempt to determine the impact of the changes in the bank sector on the process of balancing the development of cities will also be made.
