Spatial Distribution and Combination of City Buildings in Lanzhou during Transition Times
In this research, We capture data by using high accuracy images and doing large-scale field-surveys, then research into the spatial distribution and combination of existing buildings and the spatial changing laws of city asset and land use intensity of the city of Lanzhou by using methods on GIS, landscape ecology and mathematical statistics etc, to analyze the indexes such as building land area and building area etc. Results are as follows: Firstly, residential, industrial and commercial buildings are the most important styles, their distributions are relatively even and aboard, moreover, the external migration of industrial buildings has a characteristic of macrocosm decentralization, but the distributions of civic, educational, medical buildings are nearly even; the indexes of complexity, diversity, evenness of building use in the districts of the city of Lanzhou decreased gradually from the centres to the peripheries, the index of dominance increased gradually, and the grouped-distribution characteristic of building use is conspicuous; In the districts of Chengguan and Qilihe (Chengguan-Qilihe), residential and commercial buildings are mainly distributed in mixed zones and central zones, however, in the districts of Xigu and Anning, they are mainly distributed in old industrial zones, but the proportions of civic and medical buildings is on the low side which shows that the central zones in these two districts are weak. Industrial buildings are mainly distributed in mixed zones and old industrial zones, whereas the developing effect of new development zones is not good enough. Secondly, building renewal of Lanzhou is characterized by entireness and rapid spreading. Among all the building types, residential buildings renew most rapidly and the spatial distribution of their renewal level is the evenest, but industrial buildings are on the contrary, moreover, industrial buildings in Chengguan-Qilihe are becoming older and older from center to periphery, however, those in Xigu and Anning show a reverse trend. Thirdly, during the times of command economy, the city capital spatial density of all the districts in Lanzhou come out to be slow and undulate decreasation or nearly evenly distributed, even has an increasing trend, however, during transition times, it is declining undulately from center to periphery. Moreover, in all the districts, the spatial change of land use intensity in terms of buildings is shown by the same trend. Fourthly, spatial combinations of building use and building floor-area ratio are undulated from centres to peripheries. Whether in city center or in periphery, the indexes of building use diversity and building floor-area ratio are greatly uneven, which is correlated to nature and spatial distribution of units and development mode in transition times. Therefore. renewal of residential and industrial buildings and its spatial differentiation are the importiant dynamic factors of city building renewal and spatial differentiation, combination and evolution of building use, in addition, spatial differentiation of work areas and residential areas is not very strong, and it is also conspicuous that these two types of buildings are distributed together, so the influence of the mode of units is still intense and strong.
