Changes in Disparity of Urban Transportation Development Level Rank in China, 1991-2003
The paper selects the statistics of 183 cities in China, in the year of 1991,1995,1999,2003, and analysis the urban transportation development in China with SPSS. Thus, the characteristics of urban transportation development rank disparity change could be got. The general development level of urban transportation could be divided into 5 ranks which obviously appear in the form of ◇. The plus number of the cites which are better than the average level and which are worse than it is less than 30% of the total. Meanwhile, more than 70% cities transportation development levels are close to the average one. The cities with higher urban transportation development level present the characteristics of centralized-decentralized- decentralized- centralized in the provincial spatial distribution. Moreover, the cities with lower level present the decentralized and ruleless spatial pattern. The change in the disparity of the urban transportation development level rank in China appears ∪ form. The disparity decreased in 1991- 1995, and increased in 1995-1999 & 1999-2003. But they have not change greatly. The cities of which the urban transportation development level goes up spatially centralized in Henan, Shandong, Jiangsu, Changjiang River Delta, and Liaozhongnan Area, besides, of which urban transportation development level goes down spatially centralized in Heilongjiang, Jilin, Shanxi, Hubei and Hunan.
