Characteristics of dynamic mechanical properties of high strength steels (POSTEN60, POSTEN80)
As the steel structures are getting longer and higher in recent years, demands for steels with high strength are gradually required. In high strength steels, the mechanical properties during dynamic deformation are different to those during static deformation. It is therefore necessary that the dynamic mechanical properties are estimated to determine the dynamic behavior of structures using high strength steels subjected to dynamic loading. In this paper, the tensile tests of high strength steels (POSTEN60 and POSTEN80) were carried out over the range of strain rate from 10<-4>/s to 10<1>/s which is assumed static and dynamic loadings. Based on the static-dynamic test results, the characteristics of dynamic mechanical properties of high strength steels were investigated by comparing the experiments of SM490.
