Shape-Controlled Synthesis of Single-Crystalline Gold Nanostructures

We have described a simple hydrothermal route, which is convenient, economical, and environmentally benign, for high-yield synthesis of Au nanostructures including nano-octahedra with purity more than 90%, nanoprisms and nanospheres by using surfactant CTAB as the shape-controller and an ecofriendly biomaterial, glucose, as reducing agent. The experimental results show that the concentration of capping agent CTAB has an important effect on the morphologies of gold nanocrystals.
