Electrolytical Polymers Protection effects on formation and properties of Ag nanoparticle
Generally electrolytic polymer is difficult to stabilize the metal nanopaticles and control size of the metal nanopaticles for the interaction between functional group and nanoparticles. Here electrolytical polymers of potassium polyacrylate were synthesized by reversible addition fragmentation chain transfer, which is determined by 1H-NMR spectrum. Ag nanoparticles were further prepared by chemical reduction of Ag+ ion with sodium borohydride (NaBH4) in electrolytical polymers of (PPA) solution with various pH. The TEM images show that the average particle sizes are 18.8nm, 9.1nm and 29.9nm corresponding to pH of 2.5, 7.0 and 10.5, respectively. The results show that electrolytical polymers can not only effectively protect and stabilize the Ag nanoparticle, but also control size of Ag colloidal nanoparticles as function of pH. Furthermore, they exhibit responsive to pH according to the change of size and absorption peak of Ag nanoparticles, which may have potential use for stimuli-responsive applications.
