Preparation of Bi2223 superconductor nano-precursor by improved amorphous citrate pyrolysis

High-Tc superconductor Bi1.8Pb0.4Sr2Ca2Cu3O10+x(Bi2223) nano-precursor powder has been prepared by improved amorphous citrate pyrolysis. The five species of ions B3+,Pb2+,Sr2+,Ca2+ and Cu2+ are complexed simultaneously and stably by citric acid. The solution is dehydrated by boiling in atmosphere without precipitation. The amorphous material obtained is pyrolyzed slowly and nonflamely. After decarbonization at 720℃ for 3.5 hours, the homogeneous and nano-sized (ca.50nm) precursor powder is obtained. The products are characterized by SEM, XRD, AES, EPM and ρ-T curve measurement. This improved approach is considered as the best one for preparing Bi2223 precursor powder and other mixture of oxides. And it can be used as mass produced.
