Low Temperature Combustion Synthesis of Nanocrystalline α-Al2O3 powder and its Characterization
Nanocrystalline α-Al2O3 powder was synthesized by low temperature combustion synthesis technique using aluminum nitrate-urea reactive system. The relationship between color of powder and aluminum nitrate-to-urea mass ratio was investigated. X-ray diffractions showed presence of the well-crystallized a-Al2O3 after calcined at 1100℃ for 2h with 2.5:1 mass ratio. Grain size was characterized by XRD calculation, TEM observation and Clouter N4 Plus measurement, and results show the particle size distribution is 20 nm to 70 nm.
