Growth mechanism and photoluminescences of ZnO nanostructures by sol-gel method
Different ZnO nanostructures were synthesized by sol-gel method, and the effects of annealing temperature on the morphologies and optical properties of ZnO nanostructures were investigated in details. The SEM results showed that the sample morphology depended on the annealing temperature and uniform ZnO nanorods formed at 900℃. The ZnO nanorods have a diameter about 200 nm and length up to several micrometers. In addition, the growth mechanism of the ZnO nanorods was discussed. Room temperature photoluminescence measurements under excitation wavelength of 325 nm showed that the ZnO nanostructures sintered at different temperature have an ultraviolet emission peak and a relatively broad visible light emission peak. The decrease of tensile stress resulted in the UV emission peak shifted from 386 to 389nm when annealling temperature rose from 850℃ to 1000℃.
