Preparation and Corrosion Protection Properties of Nanometer SiO2 Composite Coating
Lipophilic SiO2 nanoparticles were prepared by surface modification with silane coupling agent (A858). Scanning electron microscope (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) images showed that the particle size of SiO2 was about 40 ~ 80 nm and dispersed uniformly. Using stirring and ultrasonic dispersing, nano-SiO2 composite coating was obtained by adding modified nano-SiO2 into lacquer. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), anodic polarization curves and immersion measurements were used to evaluate the corrosion performances of the composite coatings applied on steel in NaCl solution. The results showed that the anti-corrosion performance of composite coating in NaCl solution was improved remarkably, and the composite coating with 0.91 wt% SiO2 nanoparticles had the best corrosion resistance.
