Studies on improving the properties of PP-R resin by ZnO whisker and nanometer TiO2 composite particles

This paper discussed the improvement of properties of PP-R resins by adding ZnO whiskers and anatase nanometer TiO2. It also studied the modified ZnO whiskers and the influence of modified ZnO whiskers and nanometer TiO2 on the heat resistance, mechanical properties, and antibacterial properties of PP-R resins. This paper observed the cross section of materials and the state of particle dispersion in matrix. The results show that the ZnO whiskers modified by 0.5% of KH560 have better dispersed properties. Compared with pure PP-R resins, the properties of modified PP-R materials were improved greatly when adding 3-4% of whiskers, the thermal deformation temperature increased from 72℃ to 94℃. The ratio of breaking elongation is also improved from 45% to 112%; the modified anatase nanometer TiO2 is not only can improve the thermal and mechanical properties but also can improve the antibacterial properties of materials. The adaptive additive quantity is 0.5%.
