Preparation of TATB based Nanocomposite Particles by High energy Impacting Method

The preparation of nanocomposite energetic materials is currently a very active and exciting research field. In order to obtain new nanocomposite energetic system, the high energy impacting method was used to prepare TATB-F2311 and TATB-HMX composite particles, the scanning electron microscopy(SEM),differential scanning calorimetric(DSC) and impact sensitivity experiment method were used to characterize the composite structure and partial performances. The SEM images reveale that most of TATB-F2311 composite particles size is in nanometer degree and fluorine resin and TATB particles are uniformly present throughout the sample. Also TATB-HMX composite particles are compounded at nanometer scale, nanometer TATB particles are well conglutinate on the surface of bigger HMX particle and composite particles reveal a core-shell structure. The thermal analysis shows that thermal decomposition peaks of two components forming two kinds of TATB based nanocomposite particles both appear on respective DSC curves, the decomposition peak temperature of TATB and HMX in nanocomposte particles is lower than that of fine original materials sample. The impact sensitivity of TATB-HMX nanocomposite materials reduces compared with that of the physical mixture whose composition and ratio are both the same. The impact ignition mechanisms of composite energetic materials was also discussed by hotspots theory.
