Preparation and Characterization of MC Nylon 6/ZnO Composites: Crystallizing and Melting Behavior
MC (monomer-cast)nylon/ZnO nanoparticles composites were prepared by in-situ polymerization and analyzed by the dynamic high temperature XRD and DSC. The results of high temperature XRD show that the melting temperature and crystallization heat stability of MC nylon are increased by adding nano-ZnO into MC nylon. The more homogeneous the ZnO dispersion inside MC nylon, the higher the materials thermal stability. The crystal structure and relative crystallinity are reversible between high and low temperatures. The results of the isothermal crystallization and melting behavior analyzed by DSC exhibit that the crystallizing and melting behavior of MC nylon and compound material with different amounts of ZnO nanoparticles result in three peaks between 180℃ and 194℃, and changed to two peaks at 196℃. The temperature of equilibrium melting point of ZnO/nylon nanocomposite is higher than that of MC nylon, and is increased continually with the amount of ZnO nanoparticles inside nylon.
