Synchrotron SAXS measurements of phospholipids containing phosphatidylethanolamine and linoleic chains
Synchrotron small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) was used to determine of structural changes in the systems of the reverse phospholipid micelles in hexane before and after various incubation periods of oxidation. Experimental scattering curves from PLPE system in hexane indicated these samples were polydipersed, The scattering particles in this case are bigger and have more prolonged shape than those in the other phospholipid systems studied. The widest distribution reflects the presence of two different fractions in the sample of 3 days after oxidation. After possible sedimentation of the biggest particles size distribution function becomes narrower for the sample of 6 days of the treatment, 3 days after oxidation seems to be a critical period of the oxidation process.
