Novel LIS Device for Preparation of Nano Materials by Reaction-Precipitation
Reaction-precipitation is an important category among the methods for preparation of nano materials for its simplicity, economic reasonability, and operating feasibility. Based on a number of investigations supported by the NNSFC, the submerged circulative impinging stream reactor (SCISR) with liquid-continuous impinging streams (LIS) was developed and patented, which has the features of very efficient micromixing and considerably strong pressure fluctuation favoring high and uniform supersaturation and rapid reaction rate. Using SCISR as the reaction-precipitation device, a number of investigations were made for preparation of several nano materials. All the works yield very well results: under optimal and moderate conditions, the obtained product of nano copper is average-sized 5.1 nm; Titania of anatase type sized 8.84 nm; while Hydroxyapatite product consists of crystals of about 15 nm in diameter and 50-60 nm long with uniform sizes and regular appearance. The results indicate that SCISR can be a powerful tool for the mentioned purpose and that, in addition to process and formula, improvement of technical device is also a potential way to enhance preparation technology of nano materials.
