Preparation of Quantum Dots-tagged Nanospheres by Ultrasonic Emulsification

Hydrophobic CdSe quantum dots (QDs) with high crystallization were synthesized by colloid chemistry method. In this paper, we discussed the influences of reaction time and temperature on granule size and optical property of CdSe QDs. All the samples were characterized by ultraviolet visible spectra (UV-Vis), photoluminescence (PL) and transmission electron microscope (TEM). To improve the fluorescence intensity, the water-solubility, chemical stability and photostability of CdSe core QDs, CdSe/CdS core/shell QDs were prepared using successive ion layer adsorption and reaction (SILAR) method firstly. And then, the CdSe/CdS core/shell quantum dots-tagged nanospheres had been prepared by encapsulating luminescent quantum dots into an amphiphilic polymer using the method of ultrasonic emulsification (O/W). The samples were characterized through photoluminescence (PL) and transmission electron microscope (TEM). The results indicated that QDs-tagged nanospheres were water-soluble, highly stable and bright in fluorescence emission with the size of 70 nm. The modified QDs may have great potential for bio-detection as labeling immunoglobulin.
